Basic components of a website

Hosting

Hosting is a service that provides individuals or organisations with storage and computing resources to host and maintain one or more websites and related services.

Web hosting is where your website lives.  The hosting provider saves your website and all your crucial files and data on the server it supplies, allowing visitors to access your webpage online.

No one would ever be able to discover or access your website on the Internet without the server offered by your hosting service or the address needed to get there.

Web hosting services provide you with access to tools and services that help you create and manage your website more easily. Several web hosting companies, for example, provide website builder services that allow you to establish a website without programming or design skills.

Domain

The domain is the address of your website that people type in the URL bar of their browser to access your website. In other words, if your website were a house, your domain would be its address.

It is a string of text connected with a website’s numerical IP address that is much easier for people to remember and search for.

SSL

Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) is the standard technology for keeping an internet connection safe and guarding sensitive data between two systems, preventing cybercriminals from accessing and manipulating any information transferred, including personal information. It ensures that all data sent remains private.
